The Saco Turkey Trot is the city’s largest holiday tradition. We offer a 10k, a 5k run, a 5k walk, and a 1/2 Mile race for kids 10 and under (free to enter).
Started in 2012, the race began with only a 5k. A few years later we added the 10k and kids run. Originally, the kids run was a 1k that went through a couple local neighborhoods, but in 2017 we switched that for a 1/2 mile that never leaves the Ramada campus.
The Saco Turkey Trot has become one of the biggest races in Saco in just a couple of short years. With nearly 400 participants last year, and even more ready for next year, the event is growing constantly. With your registration, you get some awesome swag, an entry to a free raffle after the event, and the knowledge part of your entry fee goes right to a local Saco charity.
The Turkey Trot – A Family Tradition
Each year we get dozens of emails after the event thanking us for hosting the race. Many of them explain that the race has become a family tradition before their big meal. We absolutely love reading these, and focus hard on this event to make sure it’s family friendly. Although we welcome and can challenge the fastest runners, we’re all about family on this day. We provide kids 10 and under with their own race, and it’s free! We also give away tons of raffle items from local organizations. Plus, we have a costume contest and family discounts!
For the Serious Runner
We also make sure the event is geared toward the competitive athletes who want to run on Thanksgiving. Both the 10k and 5k are USATF certified. We also give out age group awards according to the USATF standards.
